In line with the National Action Plan against COVID-19 Phase 3, the Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development received a total of 33, 600 CoronaVac (Sinovac) dosages from the Cold Chain Storage of the Department of Health Central Office.

In Davao Region, Southern Philippines Medical Center will start inoculating eligible frontline health workers tomorrow, March 5, 2021. The vaccination activity will be rolled out to other provinces in the region as well, depending on readiness of the different Local Government Units’ implementing sites. With the available vaccines, a total of 16,800 Health Care Workers in the region will receive 2 doses of Sinovac, with a 28-day interval from the first dose.

The SINOVAC vaccine efficacy rate after two doses is at 50% for mild cases , 78% for moderate cases and 100% for severe cases, similar to the other novel COVID-19 vaccines.

The COVID-19 vaccine is our ally in the fight against our common enemy, the corona virus. The vaccine is an added protection, and we still continue to urge the public to continue and strictly follow the minimum public health standard, the BIDA Behaviours.
