ADMU’s Coach O to head ADDU volleyball coaches’ forum
July 11, 2019 - Thursday 8:07 AM by Romeo Braceros
Head coach of the newly crowned UAAP women's volleyball champion Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) will be the main speaker at a volleyball coaches’ forum to be held at the Jacinto campus of the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) on July 13.
Oliver Almadro, more popularly known as ‘Coach O’ in the Philippine volleyball scene, will spearhead the volleyball coaching clinic scheduled to take place from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon.
Mary Baang, ADDU junior high school sports coordinator, said the coaches forum will only be for 50 people who are willing to pay the P1,000 registration fee.
Appearing at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum on July 4, Baang said that coaches from nearby cities of Digos and Panabo have expressed their interest in the clinic.
Baang said this forum will be useful for local volleyball coaches since Coach O will be talking about a few strategies used by the Lady Eagles in their recent championship winning season.
"Coach O is a many-time UAAP men's volleyball champion and now the head coach of the champion ADMU women's volleyball team," Baang said, highlighting Coach O’s experience as a volleyball coach.
She added that coach O will also share insights on the latest trends in volleyball that will benefit the coaches and their players.
Baang said aside from Almadro, Noli Ayo, ADDU’s athletics director, will grace the forum to talk about proper team management.
"I hope volleyball coaches in Mindanao will join this forum since it will benefit them greatly," she said in conclusion.
