DAVAO CITY -- The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is expediting the process for the transfer of an alleged American pedophile who was arrested on Thursday by BI officials in this city while applying for an extension of his stay as a tourist in the country.
BI Davao District Intelligence Division Officer Melody Gonzales told MDM that 33-year-old Jason Eric Keller will be transferred to BI’s Detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City early next week from his temporary detention here.
Gonzales said Keller will be deported to the US in about two to three weeks after he undergoes deportation process.
Keller, who used the alias “Eddie Buttered Toast,” is wanted by authorities in US District Court in Connecticut since December 2018 after he was charged with enticing a child to engage in sexual activity and receiving child pornographic materials.
In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Keller will be deported immediately as his presence here poses a serious threat to children.
“He seemed unaware that we already have information about his crime, and that he is already in our watchlist of wanted foreign fugitives,” Morente said.
Morente said Keller will be blacklisted and banned from re-entering the Philippines.
Keller is included in the BI’s watchlist after the US government sought help in April 2019 in locating and arresting him.
This led to the filing of deportation charges against him for being an undocumented and undesirable alien.
Based on records, Keller last arrived in the Philippines in February 2017.
Gonzales said it was only in April that the BI received an advisory from the US Embassy about the cancellation of Keller’s US passport.
She said Keller’s previous applications for extension of his stay had been approved since he had no derogatory record yet at the time.
Gonzales said BI-Davao District has no information if Keller is legally married to a Filipina here.
