DAVAO CITY -- The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) is studying how to strengthen the implementing clause of the Davao City Tourism Code after it raided another unlicensed tour operator on Friday night.
CTOO head Gene Rose Tecson said her office has been receiving at least five reports of unlicensed tour operators everyday, with some being reported numerous times.
Tecson said her office has been giving warnings against unlicensed tour operators to comply with the necessary permits such as business and mayor’s permit before they can operate, but there are still some that refuse to comply.
“We decided to conduct an operation to see what the JT Tours and Adventures was doing. It turned out that the reports are true. Aside from not having permits, their van is also colorum,” she said.
“We will be having a meeting with the Tourism Board on what possible charges we can file against these erring tour operators,” she added.
Tecson said as soon as the board commences its meeting, her office will propose for the amendment of the Davao City Tourism Code.
“For the part of the Business Bureau there was a cease and desist order and to take down their post on social media,” she said.
Tecson said the unlicensed tour operators can still legalize their business once they comply with the permits.
“They can go to our office and we will be glad to assist them. We will even promote them once they legalize their businesses,” she said.
