Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte and Chinese Consul General Li Lin led the distribution of 310 Huawei Laptops donated by the Consulate General's Office of the People’s Republic of China in Davao City, at the People's Park, Friday afternoon.

The city government’s ‘Students' Siblings Laptop Sharing Project’ shall benefit the qualified high school students to help with their online classes during this time of pandemic.

In his speech, Vice Mayor Duterte encouraged the students to be strong despite the challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I encourage you to study diligently and be more determined to finish your education, so you can also pay it forward one day and help your families,” the Vice Mayor said.

Chinese Consul General Li Lin reminded the students to keep in mind the proverb, which Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and himself have chosen to remind them of the importance of education while still young: “A journey of a thousand miles starts from the first step”.

To challenge the students, ConGen Li Lin said, “while we are fighting the virus – boys and girls, please stay at home, stay safe, study hard, and be prepared to serve the country and make contribution to our friendship when it’s your turn.”

Also present during the distribution are Vice Consul Cao Jianwei, PCUP Commissioner Norman B. Baloro, City Mayor's Office Chief of Staff Ms. Barbara Carla Q. Echavia.
