COTABATO CITY -- The Bureau of Jail Management (BJMP) in Maguindanao, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) has seized illegal materials after conducting a surprise inspection at the Maguindanao provincial jail on Saturday.
Lawyer Abubakar Bobby Katambak, Maguindanao provincial jail warden, led the early morning “Operation Greyhound” and seized from the inmates bladed weapons, drug paraphernalia, disposable lighters and something that surprised jail authorities -- a pocket Wi-Fi.
Katambak told reporters that “Oplan Greyhound” will become a regular activity at the provincial jail in Cotabato City to ensure that the more than 200 inmates are cleared from illegal drug use.
“Both BJMP and PDEA-BARMM have come up with an agreement to regularly check the provincial jail for illegal drugs and deadly improvised weapons,” he said.
“Oplan Greyhound” was conducted following reports that prohibited drugs found its way into the jail facility.
