PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN -- Lyka Catubig of Enrico T. Nograles National High School bagged the first gold medal for Davao City’s track and field team on Tuesday morning after ruling the girls’ 2,000-meter walk at the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex here.
Catubig finished with a time of 10:57.9, followed by Jane Buizon of Pangasinan Province and Summer Morante of Biñan City, who finished with times of 11:59.5 and 12:03.3, respectively.
In an interview, Catubig told the media that she did not have high hopes for the event as she was going up against the same track and field athletes who beat her in the recent Palarong Pambansa held in Davao City.
She added that she is incredibly happy to have won and that her family and trainers push her in every competition.
