A police officer involved in a road rage incident caught on video that has gone viral will be charged with criminal complaints of grave threat and oral defamation before the Quezon City prosecution office.

This as National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Police Major General Guillero Eleazar met with the victim at his office on Thursday.

The incident happened on July 26, 2019 at around 2:35 p.m. along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City while the victim was on his way to Quiapo, Manila.

Based on the video, which was taken by the victim’s dashboard camera, a white SUV abruptly entered his lane but he did not give way.

As he continuously drove his car, a white Montero with plate number ABA 1201 cut him and stopped in front of him.

A man then brought his gun out of the window and pointed it to the direction of the complainant's car.

The suspect also alighted from the vehicle with a shotgun, approached the complainant, and asked for his driver's license.

Fortunately, another man wearing a green “Pulis” t- shirt from the other SUV alighted and pacified the suspect. The suspect then left.

Eleazar identified one of the suspects as Police Master Sergeant Wilson Q. Aquino of PS-3 Tactical Motorize Reaction Unit-Quezon City Police District.

He said Aquino is currently on leave until August 20, 2019. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) QCPD will take his statement for  investigation and evaluation of the incident, he added.

Meanwhile, letter requests addressed to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and to the office of the Sergeant at Arms, House of Representatives were sent to identify the registered owner of the vehicle while the video was sent to Anti-cybercrime for identification of the other suspects.

"We are here to serve and protect not to intimidate or threaten our citizens,” Eleazar said.

“This will serve as a lesson for everybody at nagpapasalamat ako dahil na-expose ang mga pulis na abusadong ito. Huwag kayong matakot,  nasa likod nyo ako at hindi natin hahayaan ang mga katulad ng pulis na ito na abusuhin ang ating mga mamamayan,” he added.
