The Davao South Regional Football Association (DRFA) U15 team remains undefeated in the Mindanao leg of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U15 National Championship after two games.

The home team DRFA beat the visiting Iligan Lanao del Norte Regional Football Association (ILRFA) 2-0 on July 13 at the Davao City-University of Philippine (UP) Sports Complex in Bago Oshiro, Tugbok, Davao City.

The Davao City based football team relied on momentum coming from their pilot game on July 6 as well as home court advantage to open the eliminations with two strong victories.

The team, which is coached by Alex Adolfo, rode Saidamin Bacol’s two goals to secure the victory against the strong visiting team.

One of the two goals credited to Bacol was an own-goal committed by ILFRA. The second goal was scored via a penalty kick in the second half.

The team earlier beat Davao del Norte FA 2-1 in their first game at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.

The team hopes to extend its winning streak to three games when it visits the Compostela Valley FA at the New Bataan Sports Complex in New Bataan, Compostela Valley on July 21.

The team is also composed of Gian Carlo Caserial, Luis Antonio Aquino, Gian Andrew Bernaldez, Miguel Luis Cerin, Uriel Dalapo, Alesandro Romero  Ea, Jose Miguel Fabello, Jhojie Fernandez, Arseth Jelp Jayubo, Gian Lacerna, Vianney Ross Lagundi, Matthaeus Henricus Lim, Janfritz Llubit, Psalm Emmanuel Loquero, Breindel Medina, Rhianne Axelle Mendoza, Christian Jay Osog, Ronmer Lei Paciente, Alexander Pichon, Gian Paolo Sartirani, and Kent Lee Sia.

In a recent media interview, Adolfo said his team will have to rely on hard work to qualify for the national finals in November.

"The Mindanao eliminations will end in August where the top four teams will make it all the way to the national finals," he said.

Adolfo tagged Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley, and ILRFA as the toughest teams in their bracket.

"All the teams in Mindanao are strong but I am confident we can make it all the way to the national finals,'' Adolfo said.

The nationwide tournament was organized by the PFF to determine the top under 15 FA in the country.

Both the Luzon and Visayas legs of the PFFU15 National Championship are also underway.
