Davao City gov’t procures 6 modern speed guns
October 19, 2020 - Monday 9:10 PM by Davao City Information Office
The city government of Davao will procure six more speed guns to aid in the enforcement of traffic laws and prevent further vehicular accidents.
Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte bared this during her Davao City Disaster Radio program yesterday, October 19, when asked to comment about the rising vehicular mishaps along the Diversion Road.
“Six speed guns are under procurement. These are modern. Bag-o ng technology sa speed gun. Kung dati, mukuha ra og speed, karon kay nadungagan og protection ang mga motorista og enforcement group kay dunay recording unsay vehicle ang gidakop for overspeeding (This is a new technology on speed gun. While our old speed guns would only record the speed, these new ones give added protection to both motorists and enforcement groups as it will also record the vehicle being apprehended for overspeeding),” the mayor said.
The city currently has two speed guns, one for the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and another for the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO). The new speed guns, according to Mayor Inday, will be distributed to these two offices, along with the Highway Patrol Group, as they are the traffic law enforcement agencies in the city.
She said that rising vehicular accidents were taken up during the recent City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) meeting. Hence, the need to purchase more speed guns.
“Nakita nga nagtaas ang vehicular accidents sa ilang mga blotters and police records (It’s been observed that the number of vehicular accidents keeps rising based on their police blotters),” the mayor added.
