Davao Youth Games 2019 underway

Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS), Panabo City Senior High School (PCSHS) and Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) Mintal were the big winners in the opening weekend of the Davao Youth Games (DYG) 2019 Inter-School Developmental League at the gym in Margarita Village near JP Laurel Avenue in Davao City.
The CBNHS juniors team beat Davao City National High School (DCNHS) 66-61, while the same school’s cadet team beat Binugao National High School (BNHS) 70-21 in Bracket B of the tournament organized in partnership with Diamond Knights and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
Meanwhile, PCSHS from Panabo City, Davao del Norte shocked the favored Davao Jones Academy (DJA) 45-42 in other junior category battle.
The cadet team of DJA however avenge their elders’ defeat by beating Immanuel School of Davao (ISD) 60-51 in Bracket A.
HCCD beat Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS) 54-50 in Bracket C of the junior division.
The junior division for players 18 years old and younger already has 13 teams that have registered while the cadet category (15-under) has nine teams and mini division (12-under) has six.
The tournament organized by Red Sports Events seeks to promote basketball at the grassroots level. Thirteen teams have registered for the tournament’s 18 and under category while the cadet and mini divisions have nine and six teams, respectively.
