Two footballers from Davao City are taking the lead for the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers in both the women’s and men’s divisions in the UAAP football championships tomorrow (Thursday).
Kyra Dimaandal and Jed Ramos Diamante, both from Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) have been appointed captains of their respective teams this season.
As team captains, Dimaandal and Diamante are expected to be key players as they face their opponents in the championships of both divisions.
Dimaandal, a dreaded striker, hopes to carry the DLSU women's football team to a rare championship three-peat when they face the dangerous Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws for the UAAP football crown at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
Dimaandal and her teammates hope to play tough tomorrow to win another championship crown for their school.
The Davaoeña is confident their team has what it takes to win the UAAP football crown for the third straight year.
Diamante for his part faces a tough task as the team will face the defending champion Ateneo de Manila University in the men’s football tournament championship game at four o’clock.
The midfielder is fully aware of the challenges his team will face but remains confident DLSU has what it takes to take down Ateneo this year.
The Engineering student feels good about his team’s chances of taking down the defending champions.
DLSU is also on track to achieving a UAAP record if they are able to win both the women’s and men’s football championships in the same season.
