DOLE, DOT conducts virtual job fair

Davao City – The Department of Labor and Employment Davao Region in partnership with the Department of Tourism recently conducted a virtual job fair.

The virtual job fair held at Waterfront Insular Hotel, Lanang Davao City was participated by 14 employers that offered 1,312 job opportunities to the applicants.

DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, “this virtual job fair is intended for the displaced workers of the tourism industry who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.”

According to DOLE Regional Employment Focal Person Marlito D. Ayala, there were 8,594 registered applicants of which 1,050 were shortlisted and scheduled for Zoom interview.

Out of all the applicants, 17 were hired on the spot and 160 were near-hires.

The employers were then requested to contact the near-hires within 30 days after the said job fair to update on their status.

In a press conference conducted on the same day, DOLE Davao Director II Atty. Jason P. Balais assured that the Department will continue to assist the displaced workers in the region.

DOT Davao Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan also expressed her gratitude and hopes to partner with DOLE again in future activities to help the displaced workers recover and get back to their regular lives.
