DRFA loses to NOFA in PFF U15 Nat’l Championship semis
February 28, 2020 - Friday 6:02 AM by Romeo Braceros
DAVAO CITY -- The Davao-South Regional Football Association (DRFA) under 15 boys football team has bowed out of contention for the championship in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U15 Boys National Championship after suffering a heartbreaking 0-1 semifinal loss at the hands of the Negros Oriental Football Association (NOFA) on February 26.
The underdog team coming from Davao City, coached by Alex Adolfo, was on the verge of finishing the match with a draw as they successfully defended NOFA’s strikers, keeping them from scoring throughout most of the match.
However, NOFA striker Mark Cantos scored the game-winning goal just before the final whistle was blown, securing the victory for his team.
DRFA qualified for the semifinals after winning all six of their matches in the regional elimination round held in Mindanao late last year.
The team still has a chance to secure a podium finish if they are able to emerge victorious over the Mount Apo Regional Football Association in their third-place match scheduled at 9 a.m. today (Friday) at the same venue.
