DAVAO CITY -- If you’re planning to fly drones to take aerial videos of the Kadayawan activities, think again.
The Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) reminded the public that flying drones during the Kadayawan celebration is prohibited.
PSSCC head Benito de Leon said for the safety of the public, people are advised not to fly drones to avoid being suspected of doing malicious things.
“This is to prevent malicious individuals from using drones for observation or for hostile action, and to make it easier for our security forces to check and limit possible security threats,” he said.
De Leon said the prohibition is not intended to prevent people from taking good shots of the Kadayawan festival but simply to ensure the safety of the public.
“This protocol is strictly enforced to ensure the safety of the public, especially during big events where there are crowds converging as in the Kadayawan festival,” he said.
Drones operated by the PSSCC are the only ones allowed during the entire Kadayawan festival.
He said the drone prohibition is not just the decision of the PSSCC but is part of the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
“The only exception of the no flying of drone is if they secured a permit coming from the CAAP,” de Leon said.
