An outreach team of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go delivered assistance to the communities hardest hit by Typhoon Ulysses in Nagtipunan, Quirino on Thursday, January 21. The distribution activity was held at the Quirino Provincial Capitol in Cabarroguis, Quirino where a total of 98 beneficiaries were provided with meals, food packs, vitamins, masks, and face shields.
The activity was conducted while strictly complying with the necessary health protocols to avoid the further spread of COVID-19.
Basta magtulungan lang po tayo at magbayanihan,” Go told the beneficiaries in a video message.
Selected beneficiaries also received bicycles to help them travel amid limited public transportation. Others were given tablets so their children could better access educational modules under the blending learning approach being implemented in schools. Some were also given pairs of shoes.
As Senate Committee Chair on Health, the Senator informed beneficiaries in need of urgent medical care that they may seek aid from his office. He also committed that he will coordinate with concerned agencies so that a Malasakit Center can be established in Quirino province soon.
In the meantime, Go advised residents that there are nearby Malasakit Centers at the Gov. Faustino N. Dy, Sr. Memorial Hospital in Ilagan, Isabela; Southern Isabela Medical Center in Santiago City, Isabela; and Region II Trauma and Medical Center in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, through which they can conveniently avail medical assistance from the government.
Meanwhile, as part of the efforts to help communities affected by recent typhoons to recover and build back better, the National Housing Authority extended housing assistance to the locals as part of its Emergency Housing Assistance Program.
Senator Go also recognized the local officials, led by Governor Dax Cua, Vice Governor Jojo Baguillar, Representative Junie Cua, and Mayor Nieverose Meneses, for serving their constituents amid the current pandemic.
He also assured that once a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is made available, the government will prioritize the poor and vulnerable sectors, as well as frontliners, including medical workers, teachers, and uniformed personnel.
