British-born Filipino Neil Etheridge is only one penalty save away from tying the Premier League's record number of spot-kick saves by a goalkeeper in a single season.

Etheridge impressed fans of the English football league after completing one penalty save in each of his first two games as Cardiff City's starting goalkeeper. The third and latest addition to his list of penalty stops this season came last week after successfully saving a penalty kick from Leicester City's James Maddison.

The game-saving stop brought Etheridge closer to equaling the current record of four penalty saves in a single season, which is shared by Brad Friedel, Ali Al Habsi, and Mark Crossley.

Cardiff City is set to face Huddersfield Town on Saturday at 11 p.m. (Manila time), where the Filipino will have a chance to equal the current record in case of a penalty kick being awarded to Huddersfield.

Huddersfield has not earned a spot-kick this season, which will give Etheridge the upper hand in terms of experience.

Etheridge also made history this season by becoming the first Southeast Asian to play in the Premier League.
