Senator Christopher Lawrence Go is pushing for an increase the salary of public health professionals in the country.

Go said in his speech at the launch of the Malasakit Center at the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City earlier this week.

The Malasakit Center in Pasig City is the 41st in the country, the 18th in Luzon, and the sixth in Metro Manila.

The launch was led by Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino of the Office of Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, and Rep. Roman Romulo.

OPAV was a partner of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President in establishing earlier Malasakit Centers when Go was still with the executive branch.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III also attended the event.

In his speech, Go recounted how his dream of providing quality healthcare for all Filipinos resulted in the creation of Malasakit Centers nationwide.

Ganyan po nabuo ang Malasakit Center," he said.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where all representatives of different government agencies, such as the DOH, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), PhilHealth and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are all gathered under one roof.

In these offices, applicants seeking financial assistance for their medical concerns need to fill out one form only and do not have to queue up in different government offices.

Go also said that these offices will have special express lanes for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
