The organizers of the 2019 Torotot Festival said the festival will be bigger and grander this year in terms of cash prizes and raffle surprises.

Phoenix Petroleum Corporate Affairs Manager Beethoven Sur said up to P100,000 worth of prizes will be given away to both the participants and audience.

“We want everyone to enjoy the activity through giving prizes to the audience who will be there. They just have to be physically present when their names are called during the raffle,” he said.

Sur said that the raffle will run throughout the event until the countdown to the new year.

City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head Gene Rose Tecson said that the torotot festival plays a big role in the Pasko Fiesta celebration of the city as it will conclude the celebration.

“We would like to show everyone that we can still have merry making even without firecrackers,” she said.

Tecson said that it has been the tradition of the city to do away with firecrackers since the city has a firecracker ban ordinance.

The events for the Torotot Festival include a Dance contest, Torotot inspired costume and Giant torotot competition.

The top winners for all categories will receive P60,000. The other prizes are P30,000 for second place and the P10,000 for the third place.
