In her program streamed live via Davao City Disaster Radio’s Facebook Page on Friday, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said ‘home Quarantine has never been a policy of the City Government of Davao.”

Earlier, during the meeting of Regional Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) in the city, National Task Force (NTF) COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez said "We have to balance the economy and livelihood. We should remove those people who are placed under home quarantine."

He suggested that patients under home quarantine should be placed in patient care centers, and their close contacts must be tested and isolated within four weeks.

“The number of cases will decrease like what we did in the areas of Bacolod City, Cebu City, Batangas, and Regions 3 and 4 where cases were already stabilized due to this method,” he pointed out.

She said the Department of Health 11 (DOH-11) never corrected the notion that Davao City allowed home quarantine.

“DOH-11, gipasagdan nila ang conversation was leading to that there is a Home Quarantine policy in the City of Davao. I was there...maybe dunay koy kakulangan because wala naku gi-correct ang notion...I was expecting that DOH would correct that narrative or that direction sa conversation but they never did. So, naghilum na lang ko,” she said.

She added, “When I saw na dili na ing-ana ang topic and dili na ing-ana ang direction sa ilahang conversation during the meeting, wala na lang ko mu-tingog because I would sound like a ‘howling banshee’ didtu kung makipaglalis pa ko.”

Duterte-Carpio was quick to apologize for this, “I’m sorry, I did not speak up. Karun lang ku nitingog but I was expecting DOH-11 to correct that but they never did.”

“For the record, there was never a policy na i-Home Quarantine ang mga positive cases,” she firmly said. JOSE RONALD F. SIONGCO/MDM with a report from PNA.
