DAVAO CITY — The 1003rd Infantry Brigade (IB) has launched a “loudspeaker operation” to help heighten the awareness of the public in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

1003rd IB Civil Military Operations (CMO) head Captain Erick Wynmer Calulot told the Mirror that the loudspeaker operation is one of the strategies of the brigade aimed at providing correct information to the people at the right time, especially during disasters.

He said the brigade’s four subunits (3rd, 16th, 89th, and 56th Infantry Battalions) have utilized vehicles mounted with loudspeakers playing important announcements deployed to different communities in Davao del Norte as well as in this city.

Calulot said through this initiative, they will be able to help the public know how they can avoid the spread of the COVID-19.

In a statement, 1003rd IB commander Colonel Nolasco Mempin encouraged the public to abide by the government’s call for unity in the war against COVID-19.

“We are enjoining our citizens to heed to the government’s call to unite against the threat of COVID 19. Let’s stay home, wear facial masks when going out, and observe social distancing,” Mempin said.

The 1003rd IB has deployed around 670 personnel to all 56 established COVID-19 checkpoints across Davao del Norte and Davao City.
