DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- From Davao to Cagayan de Oro.

Another interactive kiosk of the Mindanao Film Archive is now operating in Cagayan de Oro City. This is the third MFA kiosk after Davao City and Nabunturan.

With the kiosks viewers can see archived moving images relating to Mindanao most of which currently are films of the Mindanao Film Festival.

The Cagayan de Oro interactive kiosk is a project of the Mindanao Film and Television Development Foundation Inc., (MFTDFI), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Cagayan de Oro City Public Library and the City Museum of Cagayan de Oro.

The kiosk is currently located inside the City Museum of Cagayan de Oro along Dolores Street in front of Gaston Park. It was installed last December 29, 2020.

Lou Raphael Cañedo, president of MFTDFI said the kiosk in Cagayan de Oro is envisioned to become a public facility that can be used by different clients such as students, educators, researchers, historians, filmmakers and those interested in Mindanaoan culture and heritage as captured thru moving images such as films, videos documentaries, audio-visual presentations and news footages.

The kiosk utilizes a Microsoft Surface Studio, a bright 28-inch touchscreen variable angle monitor, which has a 4.5k resolution providing a high-quality viewing experience for users. Using a  non-proprietary software, clients can search the moving images on the database where they can also view these on the screen.

The interactive kiosk in Cagayan de Oro is planned to be permanently at the soon to be completed Cagayan de Oro Public Library.

Apart from the interactive kiosk the MFA also engages in various programs such as film screenings and film collection and archiving. PIA XI/RG Alama
