More than a thousand market vendors, boat drivers and operators receive aid from Bong Go during his visit to Dagupan City

With the pandemic affecting the livelihoods of many Filipinos, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally distributed assistance on Friday, February 26 to 1,062 beneficiaries in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
Composed of 701 market vendors and 361 boat drivers and operators, the beneficiaries received meals, food packs, masks, face shields, and vitamins in a distribution activity held at the Dagupan City Plaza.
While conducting the distribution activity, necessary health and safety protocols were complied with to avoid the further spread of COVID-19.
Some beneficiaries were provided with pairs of shoes and selected others were also given bicycles for their commute to work as public transportation remains limited amid the ongoing pandemic. Others were provided computer tablets for their children to use in their classes under the new blended learning approach.
Angelito Novelas dela Torre, a 51-year-old boat operator and one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratefulness to the Senator for the aid provided.
Halos mahirap ang pagbabangka namin sa Dagupan at kinikita namin ay kokonti, minsan wala,” dela Torre said in an interview.
Go also told the beneficiaries that the government continues to work hard in order to procure vaccines for all Filipinos. He also reassured that he and President Rodrigo Duterte will prioritize the poor and the vulnerable.
In addition, the Senator also offered assistance to those who needed major medical operations, such as heart surgeries. He urged beneficiaries suffering from medical conditions to seek assistance in the nearby Malasakit Center located at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City which Go also visited earlier on that day for a monitoring visit. He also provided assistance to hundreds of frontliners and patients in the hospital.
Additionally, the Senator explained that the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, PhilHealth and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, are housed under one roof to provide convenient access to medical assistance to cover hospital and medical-related bills, especially of poor and indigent patients.
Meanwhile, representatives from the DSWD provided separate financial assistance and food packs to the beneficiaries. The Department of Trade and Industry also conducted an assessment on potential beneficiaries for their livelihood program.
Additionally, the DOH distributed wheel chairs, canes, vitamins and medicines. The Department of Agriculture also provided their assistance to the beneficiaries.
The Senator then thanked the local government officials of Dagupan City, headed by Mayor Brian Lim, Representative Christopher de Venecia, Vice Governor Mark Lambino and the rest of the officials for their continuing support to their constituents.
Magkaisa lang tayo,” Go said.
