A suspected drug pusher was arrested with P400,000 worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a buy-bust operation in Lower Bicutan, Taguig City on Saturday afternoon

Anti-illegal drug operatives identified the suspect as Jamel Pontino, a 24-year-old resident of Marawi City.

The operation was done by combined forces of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Taguig City Police Station, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) NCR at around 4:45 p.m. on July 6, 2019 along C6 Road near Lakeshore, Lower Bicutan.

Police said an undercover agent purchased one sachet of shabu weighing around 25 grams with street value of P200,000 using a genuine P1,000 bill and 49 “boodle” or fake marked money.

After Pontino’s arrest, police checked his car and found another sachet of suspected shabu also weighing 25 grams and worth P200,000.

The suspect and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office for drug test and laboratory examination.

Police said a criminal complaint of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for filing in court against the suspect.

NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Eleazar lauded the operating teams for the arrest, saying it was “another notable accomplishment on NCRPO's illegal drugs campaign.”

Eleazar also reiterated his appeal to the public to continuously support the NCRPO in its goal to eradicate illegal drugs.
