COTABATO CITY – North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco has ordered the deployment of heavy equipment to help the local government of Alamada town repair roads that have been damaged by recent flash floods.

During their courtesy call on Catamco on Wednesday, Alamada Mayor Jesus Sacdalan and his village officials sought the provincial government's help in rehabilitating the roads, which were also damaged by landslides and flash floods last month.

At least seven villages in Alamada were inundated after heavy rains in the past two days, affecting North Cotabato’s first district.

Catamco ordered provincial engineer Jun Duyongan to send graders, payloaders, bulldozers, and public works personnel to rehabilitate the roads.

Provincial engineering workers were assessing the damage and doing initial repair works in Alamada’s five adjoining villages.

Also affected by the floods were the towns of Banisilan, Libungan, Aleosan, and Pigcawayan, all in the province’s first district.

Alamada village officials also asked Catamco to provide them with solar powers to light their respective barangays.

She asked the village officials to back their requests with village resolutions so these could be included in the provincial development plan.  Edwin Fernandez
