TACLOBAN CITY – Some 32,610 families in Catbalogan City have received health kits from the local government to fight the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Mayor Dexter Uy said all families in its 57 villages have received the Covid-19 health kits containing 60 tablets of ascorbic acid, 30 tablets of paracetamol, two bottles of ascorbic acid + zinc sulfate syrup for children, a bottle of paracetamol suspension for infants, a bottle of alcohol, and washable face masks.
“The distribution of health kits for all is one of our priorities because we believe that prevention is better than cure,” he said in a statement Friday.
The local government has started its distribution in mid-May until the first week of June.
Uy said they used a portion of its Bayanihan grant from the national government for Covid-19 related efforts, which is equivalent to the city’s monthly internal revenue allotment.
He thanked the village officials, community facilitators, daycare workers, and volunteers for assisting the local government in the preparation and distribution of the health kits.
To date, the city has no active Covid-19 case after the region’s 14th patient and the city’s first case had recovered and tested negative for the virus twice.
