Three suspected drug peddlers, one of them a woman, were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Monday morning in Vito Cruz, Manila, with police seizing P6.8 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from the suspects.
The operation was mounted by joint agents of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Manila Police District’s Police Station 6, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) NCR Regional Office.
NCRPO director Major General Gullermo Eleazar identified the suspects as Rudy Kidlat, 20; Mark Anthony Alcantara, 32; and Rona Valenzuella, 37.
Eleazar said the three were being utilized as couriers by members of syndicated criminal gang connected to the group of Chinese nationals and Filipinos engaged in the illegal drug trade operating in Metro Manila and Cavite.
He said the three were placed under surveillance for more than a month until agents mounted a buy-bust operation.
Eleazar said an undercover agent managed to buy a total of one kilogram of shabu with street value of P6.8 million.
Video of the operation showed police swooping down on the suspects who were inside a red Suzuki Swift.
Eleazar said the suspects and confiscated evidence were brought to the Crime Laboratory Office for drug test and laboratory examination.
He said cases for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the three.
“Nagsusumikap ang buong pwersa ng NCRPO upang maitaguyod ang isang bansang malaya at malayo sa iligal na droga partikular na sa ating rehiyon sa pamamagitan ng pagsugpo ng iligal na droga alinsunod sa kautusan ng ating mahal na Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte at hepe ng Pambansang Pulisya General Oscar David Alabaylde," Eleazar said.
(The whole NCRPO is working hard to establish a country that is free of illegal drugs in accordance with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte and Philippine National Police chief General Oscar Albayalde.)
Eleazar also assured the public that the NCRPO is working at its optimum capacity in the continuing fight against illegal drugs.
