Polomolok’s top 10 drug suspect shot dead in encounter

A drug suspect with known links to a local private armed group died in a shootout with a police team implementing a search warrant in South Cotabato on Thursday morning.
KAHARUDIN MARKAY SANTI, 35, was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Darren Adrian Buat at the Polomolok Municipal Hospital where he was taken by an MDRRMO rescue team for treatment of gunshot wounds as result of the encounter.
PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas said Santi engaged in arresting police officers in a shootout at 5:25 AM in Purok 9, Barangay Koronadal Proper, Polomolok, South Cotabato.
The Chief PNP said Santi is listed among the Top 10 drug personalities of Polomolok with close ties to an organized armed group under a certain Tadoy Makatigel that has links with the local Dawlah-Islamiya SOCCSKSARGEN KATIBA terrorist group, citing reports from Police Regional Office 12 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Michael John Dubria.
SOCO investigators recovered one caliber .38 revolver without serial number loaded with three (3) live ammunition, one-piece fired cartridge case of the same caliber, a rifle grenade, and ten pieces of a rectangular-shaped heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing the white crystalline substance of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of more or less one gram.
