DAVAO CITY -- Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head for operations Angel Sumagaysay echoed Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte’s assessment of the recently-held Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan, giving the security aspect of the event a “perfect 10” rating.

“At least 4,000 warm bodies were deployed during the day. The security measures really went well. That was a perfect 10 for me,” he said.

Sumagaysay credited the event’s success to the cooperation of the various security agencies, adding no untoward incident occurred during the festivity.

He said additional forces from the Philippine National Police (PNP) were deployed in the city during the Indak-Indak.

“Newly promoted police personnel were deployed to the city during the eve of the event. They came from Region 10 and 11,” he said.

“The Regional Police Office head has the discretion where to assign these trailing men in uniform. The police head chose to deploy it to us,” he added.

At least 27,000 warm bodies, including city-paid barangay tanod, are being utilized for the entire month of August to secure the celebration.

Sumagaysay said the strict security measures will remain the same for the floral float parade slated on August 24.

Sebastian had earlier given the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan “a perfect 10.”

“The Indak-indak is really a success. This is really fun and perfect for everyone. Of course I will give a rating of perfect 10. This is really a success,” he said in an interview.

The event was joined by thousands of people who witnessed the event that showcased the culture of the 11 Lumad groups in the city.

Sebastian also said aside from the main program, he was pleased with how the security sector coordinated with each other to ensure the city would have a safe celebration.

“We prepared a lot for this day. The security sector really worked hard so that we can have a peaceful celebration,” he said.

Sebastian said he was satisfied with the implementation of the Maximum Security Zone in San Pedro Square where the security forces turned their focus on the event area with the convergence of people.
