DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- An official of the Public Safety and Security Command Center in Davao City (PSSCC) revealed their agency orchestrates the city’s police, military and civilian security units to maintain peace and order in both normal situations and during this time of pandemic.

PSSCC chief Angel Sumagaysay said they make sure all members of the security sector are working together to guarantee that government policies are implemented in the communities.

Speaking in the Public Briefing#LagingHandaPH, he said communities “in coordination with the City Health Office and the barangay governments” are locked down to control the spread of COVID-19..

Sumagaysay said PSSCC monitors city-owned establishments and quickly notifies security forces of impending danger especially in areas equipped with closed-circuit-television cameras.

He asserted they will continue to provide support if the city is reverted back to General Community Quarantin (GCQ) from the current Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ)

On violations of curfew, health protocols and use of food and medicine pass, Sumagaysay reported 4,219 apprehensions. Cases have been filed against these individuals, he added.

He pointed out that the mandatory wearing of face masks and social distancing are strongly implemented in the city.

Recently, the 19th City Council passed an ordinance requiring residents to wear face masks in public places during the community quarantine or until the state of public health emergency is lifted. Violators will be fined P500 for the first offense, P2,000 for the second offense, and P5,000 fine or one-month imprisonment or both for the third offense. Joey Sem G. Dalumpines
