Repurposed Philippine Arena now ready to accept COVID-19 patients

BULACAN – The repurposed “We Heal As One Center-Philippine Arena,” which has a 300-bed capacity, was turned over by the Iglesia Ni Cristo to the national government on Thursday.

The conversion of the coliseum into a mega-quarantine facility only took 10-days. It was facilitated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Iglesia ni Cristo, and the MVP Group of Companies.

The Philippine Arena will also serve as one of the four “Mega Swabbing Centers” in Metro Manila. This facility is expected to provide a major boost to the government’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 crisis in the country.

The turn-over ceremony was attended by National Task Force COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., Iglesia Ni Cristo official and Maligaya Development Corp. Chief Operating Officer Atty. Glicerio "Ka GP" Santos IV, Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects and BCDA President and CEO Sec. Vince Dizon, DPWH Usec. Emil Sadain, and Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Joel Garcia, Bulacan Vice Governor Wilhelmino "Willy" Sy-Alvarado, Bulacan 1st District Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado, Department of Health Director Dr. Leonita Gorgolon, and DPWH Chairman of the Build Build Build Committee Anna Mae Lamentillo.
