Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) Mayor Al David Uy revealed on Monday that his mother passed away due to complications from COVID-19.

In an interview streamed via the Facebook page of Davao City Disaster Radio, Uy, who is still under quarantine after also testing positive for the pesky coronavirus disease, said, “Kita nabuhi ta pero ang Mama nako patay gyud. Sabay man mi na-COVID.”

He added. “Kaluuy sa Ginoo, nakasurvive ta pero siya wala gyud. Wala gyud.”

He bared they got the virus from one of their “kauban sa balay. Maoy nauna, pagkahuman, na-expose ming duha niato. Sabay mi. Ako mild, si Mama nako asymptomatic, ok, ok pa pero mao lagi. Kalit lang nabali ba.”

“Na-intubate naman siya diretso. Wala na. Diretso, diretso na gyud. So pait, pait gyud,” he narrated.

“Lahi siya. Ang nahitabo sa akoa, ok man, asymptomatic man pero kalit ni-traidor ning COVID,” he pointed out.

He thought he was going to die because “na-severe COVID ko for three days. Pastang sakita sa tambal, mura kag gi, ah...ambot.”

“Pastang paita,” he stressed.

Scheduled for another “repeat swab,” Uy said his ordeal is “lisud. Dili ka kaduul sa imong pamilya.”

Not wanting his fellow Samalenos to experience the same painful scenario, he emphasized, “basta ako maningkamot na, bahala na masuko ning mga taga-Samal nako na mag-inistrikto ta.”

“Pasayloa gyud ko ninyo,” he said.

As of June 13, 2021, Samal Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19 recorded 481 total cases with 93 active ones, 371 recoveries and 17 deaths. MDM
