Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday warned the public against a “notary” scam which uses her name to sell properties in Taguig City.

In a statement, Duterte bared “some unscrupulous individuals are using a notarial stamp with my name to run a scam selling properties in Taguig City.”

“I do not practice law anymore, and I do not participate in buy and sell of land, gold, stocks, and others,” she stressed.

She added, “I am also not a notary public nor have I ever applied to be one.”

Sara appealed to everyone to “immediately report” these “fraudulent activities” to the Philippine National Police or National Bureau of Investigation.

“The public should be wary of individuals who use my name to engage in all financial transactions,” she emphasized.

This is not the first time that Sara’s name was dragged in such an unlawful scheme.

Last January, she revealed persons were illegally soliciting money supposedly for her Presidential campaign fund in the May 2022 elections.

“Wala po etong pahintulot mula sa akin,” she said. “Huwag po kayong maniwala.  Huwag po kayong magbigay. Eto po ay scam o uri ng panloloko.”

His brother, Vice Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte was also not spared.

On March, he bared “individuals have been using my name or of the Vice Mayor’s Office in ordering food and beverages from restaurants and other business establishments.”

“I am informing everyone that I have not asked anyone to order food and beverages or make dining reservations on my behalf,” he said. JOSE RONALD F. SIONGCO/MDM
