Some of the top runners in Mindanao are expected to join the sixth edition of the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Blue Knights Track League on July 27 at the Matina campus of ADDU in Matina, Davao City.
Airnel Abarra, the organizer of the trackfest said this year's competition will be much bigger than the previous seasons.
Abarra said the ADDU athletics department has plans to bring the trackfest outside of Davao City this year and early next year.
"We expect 10 to 15 teams to participate in this year's edition of the trackfest and expect runners as far as Koronadal in South Cotabato, Bukidnon, and Cagayan de Oro City to join," Abarra said.
Guesting before the weekly Davao Sportswriters (DSA) Forum at the Annex of SM City Davao on July 11, Abarra revealed that ADDU hopes to bring the trackfest to Koronadal City in October and to Tubod, Lanao del Norte in January or February of 2020.
He said the trackfest is not exclusive to ADDU students, in contrary to what many people have thought over the past seasons.
"Let me again reiterate to all that this event is open to the public," he said.
He said medals await the winners of the various categories in the track and field tournament.
Moreover, Abarra said since they started the competition some years back they are happy that it has gone a long way in promoting the sport of track and field in Mindanao.
He said ADDU is always grateful for the turnout of participants each year and this year they expect more runners to join.
