Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended assistance to the victims of a storm surge incident at Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, some of whom were forced to evacuate their homes due to the water that swept through their area.
An outreach team from the Senator’s office met with residents and carried out the distribution activity on Thursday, October 22 while strictly complying with health protocols. The incident occurred on September 15.
His team distributed meals, food packs, medicines, masks and face shields to a total of 77 families or 275 individuals affected by the incident. Two families with missing relatives were also provided with financial assistance.
Select beneficiaries also received bicycles while others with children were given tablets for students to use for education purposes.
The Senator offered further assistance to beneficiaries who required medical treatment, and urged those with hospital bills to avail of medical and financial assistance at their local Malasakit Center at the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital in the provincial capital town of Isulan, or from Malasakit Centers in nearby General Santos City and Maguindanao.
Go further urged the residents not to hesitate to approach his office should they need immediate help or other forms of assistance.
Personnel from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, National Housing Authority, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and local Social Welfare and Development Office also extended additional assistance to the storm surge victims. Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development conducted an assessment and validation to identify possible recipients of their social programs.
