UAAP teams rule day two of Kadayawan hoops tourney

The National University (NU) Bulldogs and the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers showed their superiority on the second day of competition under the 2019 Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Davao City Recreation Center Monday evening.
The Bulldogs mauled the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers in the opening game of the day as the former took charge early, securing a 20-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
Jancork Cabahug of the Green Lancers took advantage of his strength to score a few points for his team in the second, but failed to cut the deficit as NU’s lead extended to 50-24 at halftime.
A series of made baskets from UV paired with the lack of defensive pressure from NU helped trim the Visayas-based squad’s deficit to 14 points.
However, it was too little too late for UV as they fell to the Bulldogs 87-71 at the end of regulation.
Later on Monday, the Green Archers survived a scare from the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras as they remain undefeated in the tournament after two games.
The Cobras stayed within reach of the lead all game long, but fell short in the dying minutes of the fourth quarter.
The rebuilding DLSU team who played without key cogs Aljun Melecio and Keyshawn Evans barely escaped the threatening Cobras with a final score of 55-65.
