WATCH: Ex-patrolman falls in Muntinlupa buy-bust

August 30, 2019 - Friday 1:08 PM by MDM

A former patrolman assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa City on Thursday afternoon.

NCRPO Regional Director Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar identified the suspect as Victor Bustamante Jr., 37, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Camp Sampaguita, National Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation, Muntinlupa City.

Eleazar said Bustamante was recruited as Police Officer (PO)1 by the NCRPO in 2011 but was later reassigned to the Southern Police District.

Eleazar said Bustamante went on absent without leave (AWOL) status starting February this year and was monitored to be engaged in the illegal drug trade.

The buy-bust operation was implemented by joint elements of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit NCRPO, Regional Special Operations Unit NCRPO, PNP Integrated Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), Muntinlupa City Police Station, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office-NCR.

Eleazar said an undercover agent was able to purchase five grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in two plastic sachets with street value of P68,000.

Police also confiscated from Bustamante’s possession two empty Glock 9mm magazines, his Philippine National Police (PNP) identification card, and a mobile phone.

Eleazar said the suspect will be facing criminal charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“He is not, in any way, connected with the Philippine National Police. For sure his apprehension will reduce the proliferation of illegal drugs in the different areas of this city,” Eleazar said.
